Instructor's Testimonial
“After suffering a knee injury soon after receiving another diagnosis of a health condition that causes chronic joint pain and other physical problems, many of my doctors and therapists recommended Yoga as a form of physical therapy. At the suggestion of my Taekwondo friends, I attended my first class at ‘The Yoga Project’ one Tuesday night in January 2012 and was overcome by my experience.
I felt so good when I left. I felt an opening in my heart, lungs, and muscles unlike anything I have ever previously experienced. I continued to practice as a supplement to my martial arts training, eventually seeking a teacher certification with hopes of growing my yoga practice. Eventually, I came to appreciate the understanding that teaching is a form of practice. Maya Angelou once said, “When you learn, teach. At our best we are all teachers.”
Today yoga gives me freedom from pain and life’s stresses. It makes me feel better—every day. And when I feel my best, I more positively affect my environment and those around me. Yoga contributes to the strengthening of my body, mind and spirit. Living with a focus on breath, being present—living in the moment, offers one of the keys to loving and fully experiencing all that life offers. I share the joy of my yoga experience with my spouse, sister and friends who practice alongside me. I am so grateful to continue to grow and learn with our clients. This is what we offer you.”

Training Options
Historically, TMAI has primarily focused on martial arts self-defense training . However, we fully embrace the sentiments of The Greatest, Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and Humanitarian, Muhammad Ali, famously said, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee..." While we are experts at teaching how to "sting," we also embrace and added a curriculum teaching the floating (or flowing) like the butterfly. Hence, our name: "Butterfly" Yoga, as we believe that n our own unique way, we are all caterpillars hoping to eventually fly." Please consider the following options:
- Vinyasa Flow Yoga Training
o This is a flow yoga style unlike the popular "Bikram" pre-scripted, postures style of yoga. None is better that the other; to each his own. We explore posture flows that are specific to the individual student (or small group). Again, we meet our students where they are in the moment. So, there is no need to feel inhibited or experience is required. Our foundational teaching is based upon what we learned from Stacey and Dave Dockins, owners of The Yoga Project located in Denton, Texas.
§ “Embodied Posture Method™” (Stacey Dawkins, Yoga Project, Owner/Founder)
Embodied Posture Methodology, or EPM, empowers you to align yoga postures to best suit your uniqueness. Through over 25 years of studying the human body and teaching yoga, Stacy Dockins developed this innovative approach that integrates bio-individuality and long-term, sustainable functional wellness.” ~ Stacey Dockins, The Yoga Project
§ Strength 45 Training (Dave Dockins, Yoga Project, Owner/Founder)
A unique, hybrid form of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) utilizing Vinayasa Yoga Posture, for a period of 45 minutes, that purposefully seeks to develop strength in addition to flexibility.
o Similarity and consistency with our Way of teaching martial arts; “we take the students as you find them.”
§ Age
§ Attitude
§ Flexibility
§ Knowledge/Experience
