Traditional Martial Arts Institute (TMAI), also known as "The Dojang," was opened with a commitment to pass on the training and martial arts traditions as taught to us by our our instructor, Grandmaster Roy D. Kurban, 8th Degree Black Belt.  Our style of training is founded in traditional Taekwondo principles.  The teaching at TMAI empasizes the importance of both poomse (pre-rehearsed forms) and sparring/self-defense techniques. 

Many schools are now focusing on mixed martial arts.  However, if you are interested in a truly effective, traditional approach to the martial arts, with an empasis on family and personal development, and a school that takes personal interest in the individual growth of each and every student, then we welcome you to train with us at the Traditional Martial Arts Institute.

Traditional Martial Arts Institute offers a comprehensive martial arts training program that is founded upon the principles of Taekwondo.  Our program takes a systematic approach to training that allows for a consistent teaching process and ensures proper development of technique and skill, as the students advance to their next belt level. 

BLACK BELT INSTRUCTION

Our school has multiple Black Belt instructors that range from 1st Degree Black Belt to 5th Degree Master Black Belt.  This helps ensure the quality of instruction that each student receives.  Our instructors have over 100 years of combined martial arts experience. 

COMPETITION

TMAI specializes in training in the fundamentals of martial arts that translates to success in both poomse (forms) and sparring competition.  Our Black Belt instructors have won hundreds of medals in competition, including numerous Grand Champion and 1st place awards.

We are unique because of our commitment to our students, our instruction and our training.  Our Black Belt instructors not only teach; they train.  As such, we are always identifying new and fresh approaches to teaching and learning.  The fact that our Black Belt instructors continue to train and compete is why we are among the best in the martial arts community.
